NSRAA has finalized 2017 Schedules for Deep Inlet and Hidden Falls chum fisheries. Remember that these schedules are for planning purposes and that ADF&G News releases are the official schedules. The schedules and plans can be viewed on NSRAA’s Homepage, or on the FrontPage.

Deep Inlet opened to Trolling on Saturday. There was some effort by the Troll fleet, although I don’t have catch numbers yet. Sunday was a Seine day; using preliminary numbers it appears approximately 120,000 chum salmon were caught. This was a pleasant surprise and strengthens my belief that the fall run is anomalous in run timing and behavior. It seems likely that this week will see the largest catch of this year’s fall run. Thursday August 25 at 2 pm ADF&G announced that Deep Inlet would reopen on Saturday August 27 beginning with a Troll rotation, followed by Seine on August 28, and Gillnet on August 29. This puts the fishery rotation in the normal sequence for the remainder of the season. Cost recovery should be completed today, August 26. There is something less than 100,000 lbs. remaining. We will make the final tally today and hope to close it out. If we do not complete cost recovery today we may harvest outside of the Deep Inlet THA but within NSRAA’s larger SHA.
