August 25th-Deep Inlet to reopen Tuesday August 26th - Cost recovery has been completed for Deep Inlet. The Deep Inlet THA will reopen starting Tuesday with the following rotation for this week(stat wk 35)-Tuesday-Troll, Wednesday-seine, Thur/Fri-gillnet, Saturday seine. Next week the Deep Inlet rotation will revert to the regular schedule of Sunday-seine, Mon-Wed-gillnet, Thur/Fri-seine and Saturday-troll. The ADFG announcement should be out shortly.

Return Update-August 19th - Deep Inlet Last week a total of 276,000 chum salmon returned to Deep Inlet. The majority of the harvest, 156,000, occurred in the pink salmon seine fishery in Eastern Channel. There has been some confusion regarding the Hidden Falls Assessment Tax, especially in regards to which species the tax applies to.
Please take note and pass along this information:
- Rate: the 2013 tax rate is 20%
- Species: the tax applies only to chum salmon
- Area: ADF&G Statistical Areas 112-11, 112-21, 112-22 Map of area covered by tax
- Duration: June 15-July 31
- Gear: All gear groups (seine & troll)
Hidden Falls Dock
Hidden Falls is getting a new dock this summer.
Construction is underway.
Here are a few shots of the progress so far. The main section of the dock was fabricated in Prince Rupert and towed to Hidden Falls. Clifton Enterprises is the contractor.

Hidden Falls Will Collect Final Broodstock, Volitional if Possible
Final broodstock are being collected & counted using leads into the barrier net during the fishery today. We may be able to finish it this way but if not we’ll enlist a boat. If we can complete the broodstock goal our intention is to open Kasnyku Bay for fishing.
Deep Inlet tops 350,000 Chum Catch for all Gear
Deep Inlet keeps chugging along providing the best catches for June and early July since 2000. SSRAA sampled the District 4 seine fishery on July 7th and found 30% of the chum catch was Medvejie origin. Several percent was Hidden Falls as well.

Hidden Falls Broodstock Completed for July 10th
F/V Cape Flattery completed two sets this morning in Kasnyku Bay to reach our broodstock goal for the week – 110,000 chum. We still need about 20,000 fish.
